About Hillary Construction Bursary
The Hillary Construction Bursary funds Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying and Surveying students through Hillary Construction, a Polokwane-based civil engineering contractor with more than 60 years in the industry, working on roads, earthworks, bridges, airports and water treatment infrastructure across South Africa.
Unlike most bursaries, this one starts with a one-year Road Construction Learnership rather than an academic award. The company uses this "gap year" to assess a candidate's work ethic and commitment on real construction sites before committing to fund further study, which makes the programme as much a recruitment pipeline as a bursary.
Funding Details
Once a candidate has completed the initial Road Construction Learnership and been approved for ongoing sponsorship, the bursary covers tuition, registration and examination fees, plus a monthly allowance for accommodation, food and travel, and study-related equipment on request. During the learnership year itself, participants also receive a monthly salary and travel allowance.
