About South African Reserve Bank Bursary
The South African Reserve Bank Bursary - officially the SARB External Bursary Scheme - funds academically strong, financially disadvantaged South African students entering their first year of undergraduate study in fields relevant to the Bank's work, including Economics, Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Information Technology, and Law.
The scheme is run by the SARB to build a pipeline of skilled graduates in areas that support central banking and financial regulation in South Africa, rather than to fund study in any field. Applications are administered on the Bank's behalf by TTI Bursaries.
This is a separate programme from the South African Reserve Bank Scholarship (see the related listing), which funds a single Fine Arts student each year rather than undergraduate study in economics- and finance-related fields.
Funding Details
The bursary is reported to be capped at up to R120,000 per student per year, covering tuition fees, accommodation, and study materials such as textbooks.
Where You Can Study
The scheme is not restricted to a fixed list of universities. It supports full-time undergraduate study at any recognised South African university, in fields relevant to the SARB's work, such as Economics, Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Information Technology, and Law.
