Cipla South Africa

Cipla South Africa is the local operating arm of Cipla Limited, a multinational pharmaceutical company founded in India in 1935. Its South African presence grew substantially through the 2013 acquisition of Cipla Medpro South Africa (previously Enaleni Pharmaceuticals), which gave the group established local manufacturing and distribution capacity and made it one of the country's larger pharmaceutical manufacturers by volume.

The company manufactures and distributes medicines across both the public and private healthcare sectors in South Africa, with operations centred on the Western Cape (Bellville / Century City) alongside other manufacturing and distribution sites in the country. Cipla positions its work around the philosophy "Caring for Life," with a stated focus on making quality medicines more accessible and affordable.

As part of its investment in future talent, Cipla South Africa runs an annual bursary programme for students in scarce and critical skills disciplines relevant to a pharmaceutical manufacturing and healthcare business, linked to vacation work and its Graduate Skills Programme.
