Department of Human Settlements

The Department of Human Settlements is the South African government department responsible for national housing policy, including the delivery of subsidised housing and informal settlement upgrading programmes. The department works with provincial governments and municipalities to expand access to adequate housing across the country. It supports bursaries for students pursuing built environment, urban planning, and related qualifications.
