Enel Green Power is the renewable energy division of Enel, an Italian multinational energy company, and operates wind and solar projects across South Africa's Limpopo, Free State, Northern Cape, and Western Cape provinces as part of the country's Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement (REIPPP) programme.
Like most REIPPP-licensed operators, Enel is contractually required to reinvest a share of project revenue into the communities surrounding each plant - its bursary programme is the main vehicle for that obligation. Because the fund is geographically anchored rather than field-restricted, it can support any course of study, as long as the applicant genuinely lives near one of its project sites.
There is no employment work-back requirement. Recipients are not expected to work for Enel afterward - the funding is structured as community reinvestment tied to the company's operating licence, not as a graduate recruitment pipeline.
