The Foschini Group (TFG) is one of South Africa's largest fashion and lifestyle retail groups, operating brands including Totalsports, Markham, and Foschini itself. Beyond its retail bursaries, TFG runs a specialised postgraduate Fellowship aimed at building in-house data science capability.
TFG funds the Data Science and Leadership Fellowship specifically - rather than a general retail bursary - because a large retail group increasingly competes on data: inventory forecasting, customer analytics, and supply chain optimisation all depend on skilled data scientists, a talent pool TFG is actively trying to grow rather than only recruit externally.
The Fellowship includes an event at TFG's Cape Town head office as part of the programme, though it does not carry a formal employment work-back contract in the way a traditional corporate bursary would.
