The Hollywood Foundation is the corporate social investment arm of Hollywoodbets, the South African sports betting company. Since its establishment, the Foundation has directed a share of Hollywoodbets' profits into education, healthcare, sport, and community development across South Africa, with bursaries forming one of its largest and longest-running programmes.
The Foundation funds students through its "Future is Bright" campaign because it sees tertiary education as the most reliable way to break the cycle of poverty in the communities where Hollywoodbets operates. Rather than favouring a narrow set of degrees, it backs a wide spread of commercially useful fields - IT, finance, marketing, business management, data science, and more - to build a pipeline of employable graduates.
The bursary does not carry a formal work-back or employment contract. Recipients are free to pursue any employer after graduating, though the Foundation does track outcomes and profiles former recipients on its website.
