The Legal Practitioners' Fidelity Fund (LPFF), previously known as the Attorneys Fidelity Fund, is a statutory fund established under the Legal Practice Act 28 of 2014 (and its predecessor legislation before that). Its core purpose is to reimburse members of the public who suffer financial loss when money or property held in trust by a legal practitioner is stolen or misappropriated. The Fund operates from offices in Centurion, Gauteng and Cape Town, Western Cape.
Alongside its fidelity guarantee role, the LPFF funds a bursary programme covering tuition fees for law students, reflecting the Fund's broader interest in supporting entry into and transformation of the legal profession it protects the public against. The bursary is aimed specifically at students already partway through an LLB, BCom Law or BA Law qualification rather than first-time entrants to tertiary study.
