The Letsatsi Borutho Trust is a community trust that holds shares in the Droogfontein Solar Power plant in the Northern Cape, set up as part of the plant's Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement (REIPPP) community ownership and development obligations.
The Trust funds bursaries for youth living near the solar plant as a direct expression of that community-ownership structure - because residents hold a stake in the plant itself, the bursary functions more like a community dividend than a corporate CSI programme, and is open to any field of study as a result.
There is no employment work-back requirement attached to the bursary.
