Mandela Rhodes Foundation

The Mandela Rhodes Foundation is a South African non-profit organisation established in 2003 through a partnership between the Rhodes Trust (Oxford, UK) and Nelson Mandela, marking the first time the Rhodes name had been formally linked to an initiative outside Oxford. The Foundation is a distinct, independently governed South African entity - it is not the same organisation as the Rhodes Trust, which separately administers the Rhodes Scholarship for study at the University of Oxford.

The Foundation runs the Mandela Rhodes Scholarship, which funds postgraduate (Honours or Masters) study at South African institutions of higher education for young African leaders, combined with a structured Leadership Development Programme of workshops, mentorship, and network-building across the continent.
