Tronox

Tronox Holdings plc is a global mining and inorganic chemical company and the largest fully integrated producer of titanium dioxide (TiO2) pigment, used to add brightness and opacity to paints, plastics, and paper. Tronox is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: TROX) and is headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, USA, with mineral sands and mining operations on several continents.

In South Africa, Tronox operates the Namakwa Sands mining and smelting complex on the West Coast (Brand-se-Baai, with a mineral separation plant and a smelter at Saldanha Bay) and the KZN Sands operation around Empangeni and Mtunzini in KwaZulu-Natal, where heavy minerals are mined and processed into titanium feedstock, zircon, rutile, and high-purity iron products.

Tronox runs an annual bursary programme through its KZN Sands operation to support South African students studying towards qualifications relevant to its mining, engineering, and metallurgy needs.
