Breede Valley Municipality Bursary

The Breede Valley Municipality Bursary, known locally as the Mayoral Bursary Fund, is run by the Breede Valley Municipality in the Western Cape. The fund supports residents of Rawsonville, Worcester, De Doorns, and Touwsrivier who want to continue their studies after school.

Breede Valley Municipality created the fund to invest in its own residents and to encourage graduates to return with skills the municipality can use, particularly in fields connected to local government. However, the fund does not restrict applicants to local-government-related study only; other fields of study may also be considered.

This bursary provides partial cover for registration fees only. The municipality pays the funds directly into the bank account of the educational institution rather than to the student, which keeps the funding tied to actual registration costs. It does not cover tuition in full, accommodation, or living expenses.

Recipients may study at any accredited South African tertiary institution. The municipality has not published a restricted list of approved universities or colleges, so the priority sits with the applicant's residence, academic record, and chosen field rather than the institution itself.
