About Saafost Bursary for Undergraduate Students
The SAAFoST Foundation Undergraduate Bursary is the South African Association for Food Science and Technology's funding programme for students already part-way through an undergraduate Food Science and Technology qualification. It is a distinct track from the SAAFoST Foundation Matriculant Bursary, which is aimed at learners still in Matric about to start their first year - this undergraduate bursary is only open to students already enrolled and entering their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study, and requires 12 months of prior SAAFoST membership that a first-year applicant would not yet have.
Awards are made on the basis of academic merit, employment equity, and demonstrated potential, and are renewable annually provided the student remains within the prescribed time to complete their qualification and stays an active SAAFoST member throughout their studies.
The bursary covers tuition fees only, paid directly to the institution, and requires ongoing reporting back to the SAAFoST Foundation on academic progress and involvement in SAAFoST activities.
Funding Details
Covers actual tuition fees charged by the institution, up to a maximum of R60,000 a year, paid directly to the institution in two instalments - the second instalment conditional on satisfactory first-semester results.
