Old Mutual

Old Mutual is one of South Africa's largest financial services groups, offering life assurance, savings and investment, banking, and lending products across South Africa and the rest of Africa. The group is listed on the JSE and the Namibian, Malawian and Zimbabwean stock exchanges, and traces its roots back to 1845.

Old Mutual runs an in-house Early Careers bursary programme, including separate Actuarial Science and Accounting (Chartered Accountant track) bursary streams, to build a pipeline of technical, actuarial and financial talent for its own business. This in-house programme is distinct from other Old Mutual-linked scholarship trusts, such as the Old Mutual Investment Group (OMIG) Imfundo Trust, which is administered separately via StudyTrust.

Bursars on Old Mutual's Early Careers streams are expected to enter a structured in-house development programme after graduating — the actuarial development track for Actuarial Science bursars, or the Old Mutual Chartered Accountant Training (OMCAT) Programme for Accounting bursars — and to work for Old Mutual after qualifying.
