About Impala Platinum Implats Bursary
Implats funds undergraduate and postgraduate bursaries in engineering, geology, metallurgy, and related technical disciplines. One of the world's largest platinum group metals producers, the company mines and processes platinum, palladium, rhodium, nickel, and copper across three of the world's most significant PGM deposits: the Bushveld Complex in South Africa, the Canadian Shield, and Zimbabwe's Great Dyke.
With roughly 63,000 employees across its operations, Implats needs a constant pipeline of engineers and technical specialists just to keep sites like its flagship Rustenburg complex - which alone employs around 51,500 people - running safely and efficiently.
Funding Details
Full financial details aren't published upfront, but as with most large mining bursaries, recipients can expect their core study costs covered for the duration of their qualification. In return, successful bursars are required to work for Implats after graduation for a period equal to the years they were funded.
